FINAL PRESENTATION

Nine weeks of hard work between 7 students all came together today for our Final Presentation. We came prepared with printed T-shirts, pens, tags and Business Cards with our brand logo on and stood up inf ront of four other groups to present. We put together a Zine which is a collection of every aspect to our company that we have collectively worked on. We had Design and Product managers that researched trends for shape, texture and colour, designed collections, illustrations and working drawings. We had Brand Managers that designed logos, gift tags, bags, and other merchandise. We had Creative Director that researched shop layouts, interactive instalments, customer and consumer profiles and photography styles.  Our Marketing Manager that looked into costings, stockists, press and statistics and finally, our Social Media Manager that created our website, designed business cards and set up platforms across all social media apps.

We all decided to speak for the final presentation as we thought that it was important for everyone to share the pain! We made sure to prepare before hand so that we all knew what we would be saying and when we would be saying it. Our presentation was a smaller version of our Zine- using only the most important and relevant parts of our Business Pitch. We had to present to three judges that then gave us feedback afterwards.

We were given positive feedback about out philosophy, our meet the team page, our designs and our work as a group but we were told that perhaps we should just open up our own store instead of trying to sell in places such as Selfridges, We initially came up with this plan as we thought it would be more affordable to a new brand such as ourselves but as the judges pointed out, it would be just as expensive to sell in Selfridges, if not more! We were also told that our branding was too mature which confused us a bit as we were previously told that our current branding was good. I would also like to point out the fact that the branding relates to our customer and not our consumer- the parent. Which is why we have made our branding a little bit more on the mature side. We were also in the danger of becoming too 'tacky'.

All in all, we were all very happy and proud with how the presentation went.

CONCLUSION

I have NEVER enjoyed or been particularly good at group work so when I was informed of this project, I was a little worried.  When I took part in the FAT project, I saw a side of myself that I hadn't discovered. A side that is confident enough to voice my opinions and a side that is capable with communicating with other and sharing ideas. This came to both a shock and a pleasant surprise to me and I was very happy to find that Global Sourcing had the same outcome for me.

At the beginning of the project, I was so excited and I was full of ideas that I was bursting to share with the group. I really wanted the rest of the group to share my excitement but I think I was expecting too much when I started asking for ideas over Christmas break! (I did not get a happy response)

My excitement, enthusiasm, passion and effort lasted through a lot of the project and I found that I put so much effort in to begin with when some people weren't as keen as I was, only to find that my other project was suffering a little bit because of it. Towards the second half of the project, a lot of members in the group gained the excitement that I had to begin with, as mine started to wear out. I put an awful lot of effort into this project but it was very strenuous at times and pressure was put on some of the relationships within the groups but we worked very well as a group and I am very grateful to have been paired with people that are passionate, hard working and good listeners.

It was so refreshing and different for me to have been so involved with a group project, rather than sitting in the background, keeping my ideas to myself. This has a lot to do with my own personal improvement but I hope that this project shows just what I can do in a group project when I really put my heart into it.

There were times that I felt certain people in the group weren't pulling their weight as much as others which frustrated me but I think we are all pleased with the final outcome!
